In a prize-giving ceremony at Somerset House, Sarah Mower MBE, BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent and Chief Critic Vogue Runway, and Bettina Haussmann, Senior Manager Sponsoring and Product Placement Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars, presented The International Fashion Showcase Designer Award to Younchan Chung of the-sirius for his Korean installation pictured below.
We’re delighted to have been able to supply Schläppi 2200 female and Schläppi 3000 male mannequins to Younchan Chung and the Korean team for their winning installation.
Bonaveri is the official mannequin supplier and sponsor of Next in Line, part of the exhibition curated by Shonagh Marshall featuring designers from nine countries including Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Panama, Peru, South Africa, Switzerland, Uruguay and Zimbabwe.
10 Schläppi 2200 and 3000 mannequins were supplied to form part of the Next In Line section and were produced by Bonaveri using their new sustainable manufacturing technique; BNATURAL. BPAINT and BPLAST mannequins manufactured using this technique are the world’s first ever eco-mannequins and were first debuted in 2016 in London at Livia Firth’s annual Green Carpet Challenge.
Winner of the IFS Designer Award, Younchan Chung of the-sirius:
Thank you for the amazing prize. What news! I am so honoured to be a part of IFS 2017 and really appreciate the opportunity to spread the word of the-sirius thanks to the British Council, BFC and Mercedes-Benz. I am really happy to win this prize as I only started the-sirius in Seoul Fashion Week last year, but I have dreamed of being a part of the global fashion industry.Younchan Chung
Also in this year’s IFS 2017 exhibition was a delightful installation by Egypt featuring two Schlaäppi 2200 female mannequins set against a colour changing backdrop of fields and flowers.
This year’s theme for IFS is LOCAL / GLOBAL featuring an installation by Studio Toogood of neatly stacked bricks and fabric dyed with London clay.
