Fashion Utopias - IFS2016 at Somerset House London

London Fashion Week is over and as we prepare ourselves for London Showrooms in Paris, we're enjoying some of the moments from the incredibly successful International Fashion Showcase at Somerset House. This year, the concept behind IFS was 'Fashion Utopias', an interpretation of an abstract existence by the 15 participating countries.The term utopia was coined by Sir Thomas More for his 1516 book Utopia, describing a fictional island society in the Atlantic Ocean. The word comes from the Greek: οὐ ("not") and τόπος ("place") and means "no-place", and strictly describes any non-existent society 'described in considerable detail'.Blue Studio and Bonaveri sponsored the Curator Award - one of the awards given out at a ceremony on Sunday evening. The Curator Award pays tribute to the team that we felt delivered the best message within the exhibition concept. It was a tough decision - we discussed and debated our choices with members of the judging panel including those from the British Fashion Council and other representatives from the industry. In the end we unanimously decided to award the prize to Lebanon for their 'Blueprint Beirut' stand.We also supplied Aloof and Noble mannequins to the event for the Next In Line section where the organisers had selected up and coming designers from around the world to exhibit garments. Aloof and Noble are the latest Schläppi Mannequins from Bonaveri chosen for this area and feature artistic forms that have been well received by both fashion and visual merchandising teams around the world.
