British curator Judith Clark was commissioned to assemble the collection, displayed on 2 floors across 6,500 square foot of space at La Galerie Louis Vuitton. See a complete set of interior images on WWD.
Bonaveri was asked to supply 30 bespoke female Schläppi 2200 mannequins that feature gold inlay neck and waist caps, some with articulated lime wood arms and hands, others with matching lime wood heads. All of the carefully crafted pieces were covered with a fine raw calico giving the articulated mannequins a soft and feminine feel.
The articulated lime wood arms and hands reference the display cabinets and plinths, made of poplar wood. Timber inlaid patterns in the floors, plinths and walls allude to the typical detailing used in Louis Vuitton’s trunks. The imagery and concept of the exhibition were inspired in part by a small timber interlocking puzzle called the ‘Pateki’ designed by Gaston-Louis Vuitton in the 1930s.
